  Few charities can pull a global summit, a supermarket supply chain and a community of one million UK supporters in the same direction. WWF can, and that scale is exactly what nature needs right now.

  The Wildlife Trusts

  What they do

  A federation of 46 local Wildlife Trusts protecting and restoring nature across the UK and the Isle of Man.

  Where they focus

  Managing 2,300 nature reserves, rewilding farmland, urban nature projects, and citizen science.

  Why it matters

  The largest network of community-based nature charities in the UK, with over 900,000 members and volunteers.

  Why we like them

  Nature recovery happens at the local level, and the Wildlife Trusts know every hedgerow. Backing them is backing your own postcode's wildlife, not just a distant rainforest.

  Woodland Trust

  What they do

  Protecting ancient woods, planting native trees, and campaigning against the destruction of UK woodland.

  Where they focus

  Over 1,000 publicly accessible woods, free tree-pack giveaways, and fighting HS2 and housing threats to ancient habitat.

  Why it matters

  Only 13% of the UK is wooded, less than half the European average. Ancient woodland makes up barely 2.5%.

  Why we like them

  You can walk into a Woodland Trust wood for free, today. That accessibility is rare and quietly radical, and the long-game tree-planting is exactly the kind of patient work charities should be doing.

  Marine Conservation Society

  What they do

  Working for clean, healthy and well-protected UK seas, coasts and the wildlife that depends on them.

  Where they focus

  Beach Cleans, the Good Fish Guide, sewage and plastic campaigning, and Marine Protected Area policy.

  Why it matters

  The UK has more marine area than land. Most of it is invisible from shore, and someone has to speak up for it.

  Why we like them

  They turn citizen volunteers into ocean scientists. The data from a Saturday Beach Clean ends up in government policy briefings, and that turns a litter pick into law-making.
